Escrow Specialist
Role
Manage and monitor escrow accounts for mortgage borrowers, ensuring property taxes and insurance premiums are paid on time. Analyze escrow balances, perform escrow reviews, and ensure compliance with regulations.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
- Makes required payments for real estate taxes and assessments on mortgage loans in an efficient and timely manner. Pays, cancels, and accounts for mortgage insurance premiums and policies and maintains related loan account records. Reviews real estate tax accounts to assure adequate reserves for taxes and insurance and provides for payment of tax bills as authorized by the borrower. Prepare and process annual escrow analysis statements.
- Provides direct customer service to borrowers regarding their escrow accounts, answering questions, and addressing any concerns. Makes collection calls pertaining to real estate loans.
- Assists with incoming real estate related mail. Documents collateral insurance.
- In the absence of the Post Closing position, will order and review appraisals to ensure reports are accurate and meet appraisal requirements.
- Assists with any other special projects or assignments as assigned by manager.
- Must comply with all company policies and procedures, applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control.
Qualifications and Skills
EXPERIENCE
Six months to two years of similar or related experience, including time spent in preparatory positions.
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES
High school degree or GED required.
INTERPERSONAL SKILLS
Courtesy, tact, and diplomacy are essential elements of the job. Work involves personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization, generally regarding routine matters for purposes of giving and obtaining information, as well as advising or referring, which commonly require shorter discussions.
Minimum starting salary: $19.44 (Negotiable based on experience)
