Branch Operations Specialist
Role
The Branch Operations Specialist supports the various products and ancillary functions of various departments. Provides operational support to branch personnel as needed. Responsible for maintaining all Individual Retirement Accounts. This includes assisting existing, new and prospective members. Edits reports and researches problems. Answers branch questions. Makes any form changes and reviews all program changes.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
- Verify member data changes for security reasons and system consistency. Maintain records for deceased members including notifying appropriate departments and verifying account documentation for beneficiaries. Work with Branch Operations on various reports.
- Reviews all documents received from branch personnel on any IRA transactions. Pursues any other needed information through the responsible branch employees if possible. Assists in the organization and delivery of IRA training.
- Processes the annual required minimum distribution mailing to all IRA customers. Responsible for maintaining accuracy of the listing. Calculates any distributions. Informs customers of distribution options according to IRS regulations. Reviews all reports on IRA's daily, weekly or monthly as needed. Includes maintenance of accounts, data entry, placing legal holds on accounts, invalid contribution/distribution codes, prohibited transactions, rejected automatic payments, and researching problems.
- Processes all account levies and leans with various agencies.
- Responsible for receiving, sorting, distributing, and posting mail payments accurately and in a timely manner.
Knowledge and Skills
Experience
Two to Five years of similar or related experience, including time spent in preparatory positions.
Education/Certifications/Licenses
CISP certification is considered an asset. Attends continuing education or professional certification seminars on IRA or related information.
Interpersonal Skills
A significant level of trust, credibility and diplomacy is required. In-depth dialogue, conversations and explanations with customers, direct and indirect reports and outside vendors can be of a sensitive and/or highly confidential nature. Communications may involve motivating, influencing, educating and/or advising others on matters of significance. Typically includes subject matter experts as well as first level to middle managers.
Other Skills
Knowledge IRA's or similar accounts, and an understanding of the various Federal and State regulations and requirements concerning these accounts. Knowledge of distribution calculations for retirement accounts.
Starting pay $19.44 (negotiable based on experience)
